ImageOur friend, Bailey, is headed to India with the Purple Wagon and we are so proud of her!  We have donated to her cause as a club.  You can, too!

Well hello world! First and foremost, my name is Bailey Schollmeyer! I'm a little girl with red hair and a passion for learning about and helping others. I'm a senior at Millard West and enjoy doing strange things such as painting on Friday nights and experimenting with vegan cooking. I will be attending University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the fall. I am an avid thrift shopper and get 3/4 of my oxygen intake from laughing. I volunteer weekly at the Open Door Mission and like long car rides to no where in particular with my dog and trusty/annoying sidekick, Nestle.

Now you may be thinking "Hey Bailey, I appreciate that...but let's cut to the chase: Why are you going to India? What are you going to gain from this?" And to that I say, "Good question, Reader". I have always been exposed to diversity all my life. I come from a multicultural family, with two out of my three brothers being adopted from South Korea and my family being heavily involved in the international adoptive community. This has made me not only fascinated by other cultures but craving for knowledge about those different from my own. Whether it be culture, gender, age, socioeconomic status, etc., people just fascinate me. Along with that I have always been what you could call a "helper". I have always enjoyed and been involved with community service. Recently, I combined these two things together and started volunteering at the Open Door Mission where I can interact with and help people from all walks of life at once. This passion for helping others is so strong that it has lead to me wanting to go to school to become a Physician's Assistant and work with low income families and abused/neglected children. This trip is the ultimate opportunity to not only enrich myself in another culture but help others at the same time and I could not be more excited and thankful! India 2013 here I come!
